AJ Hebert
AJ Hebert, a Louisiana native from Crowley and raised in the heart of Acadiana, is carving out a name for himself as a painter and artist whose passion began at a young age. His story starts in his childhood, sketching Mickey Mouse on the back of his mother’s Barbie doll box and quickly discovering a natural talent for art.
From an early fascination with drawing, AJ’s love for the craft only deepened. A memorable moment in fourth grade solidified his artistic journey when he was caught drawing his teacher instead of doing math. His teacher, impressed with his skills, famously said, “Your son was supposed to be doing math, but look at this! It looks just like me. Congratulations.”
Despite facing traditional education that focused more on fostering creative thinking than teaching specific techniques, AJ’s growth as an artist flourished. Drawing inspiration from legendary artists like John Singer Sargent and Norman Rockwell, AJ learned most of his technical skills on his own. His art reflects his well-rounded personality, shaped by his involvement in motocross racing, skateboarding, and rugby during his youth, which also helped him build a strong connection with others.
Now, as a full-fledged artist, AJ Hebert focuses on capturing authenticity in his work. “I draw to feel normal; it’s the only thing that feels natural to me when I create,” he shares. “It’s a zen-like, meditative experience that makes all of life’s troubles fade away.”
In addition to his oil paintings and drawings, one of his most recent projects is painting the Pelican for the Acadian Pelican Ball, a remarkable opportunity in his budding career. As 2025 unfolds, AJ’s artistic journey is taking him to exciting new heights, with opportunities on the horizon to showcase his work in prestigious venues.
This year, AJ is preparing to display his art in a New York City gallery, offering him a platform to share his unique perspective with the broader art world. Additionally, he has been invited to create a mural in Newport Beach, bringing his talents to the West Coast with a large-scale public art piece. AJ’s international exposure is expanding even further, as he is also set to speak at the renowned Festival Interceltique Lorient in France, where he will share his artistic vision with a global audience.
AJ’s growth as an artist is matched only by his dedication to staying true to his authentic self. As he continues to pursue his passion, the year 2025 promises to be a transformative one.
